Lesson Objective:
To learn how to play and explore Crystal Island and make connections between CI and tropical biomes.
Assessment:
Students will be expected to visit the journal and record scientific observations as they move throughout the island. Students will be expected to take 4 photographs and write a journal entry for each one. The pictures should be taken in different places throughout the island.

Introduction:
Today you will explore Crystal Island and build an understanding of the features (movement, tools, etc.) included in the game. Your goal is to explore and understand how to move throughout the entire island.
Procedures:
  1. Teacher will take students through the game as a whole class pointing out important aspects of the game such as the journal, map, camera, etc.
  2. Students will play the tutorial for CI.
  3. Students will play CI.
  4. Students will journal scientific observations in CI using appropriate vocabulary related to landforms, weather, and ecosystems.
  5. Whole group will revisit KWL.
